Not only the jumping but planning and important is the Condition of the horse and rider, the right work for the particular horse can make huge differences, you will not find shortcuts that least for long.
2 to 3 times work a day is very normal for a competition horse, jumping horses must have explosive muscle for the many jumps in the 1 minute course, it’s not a long distance horse, they need again a different way of work.
45 minute Walker, gallop lunge for 10 minute,a ride for 45 minute inclusive the walk before and after.hacking, climbing hills, handwalk, grasspadock short grass for not getting to fat but important for the horse stomach to keep balance .
The horse is out around 5 to 6 hour a day,or even more without getting bored,a top sport horse is in company most of the day, human is many times their best friend,or at least the one I know and have been working with.they become “your” best friend, what’s also needed to reach the level you want.
if you ride for fun, still your horse must be prepared for the task you give to it.
It is difficult itself to be prepared for the competition, loading, transportation, meeting new friends if you stay longer in the sport definently you will meet them again, the sport is a small circle so good behavior and respect to eachother is important from the very first show.
Walking the course and also remember it can be difficult when to social at that moment of walking it,memorize the course by telling yourself a story.
The Secretary for registration can sometimes be a test,I always bring Norwegian Chockolate as gift, something I learned from my time in Germany it amaze me to see the joy in tired eyes..
The warmup area is mostly a mess, keep calm in every situation, talking together in a nice way helps better than arguing I promise, even if the other person is not that polite.
Many hour preparation for only 1 minute in the ring, get used to it.
All the impressions on your way to compeet is as for you as for the horse stressfull, the horse also dont understand what you are stressed and nervous about, and is much more sensitive as you think, every rider is nervous, just learn to handle it,Google the common problem, find a solution that fits you.
In the end everybody goes through the same,we just act different.
Everyone wants to win or be able to ride well in the ring, do not look to the right, left,or behind you, look straight ahead and to those who support you in all situations, good with their horses and riders as well.
It is not always the “winners” who are the “winner” in the end of the day.
