Equestrian sport.
I aim to have a good attitude in all situations, then I believe that one reaches longer and what can be better than starting the day in a good attitude, but some situations also make me behave differently at times also act incorrect.
We can actually compare ourselves with our animals…
I like when a horse have attitude but in a good way. The horse’s talent, it is a combination of athletic ability and attitude to work. A horse without athletic ability, will not be a top horse.
and the horse must also have a positive attitude to work.
The horse’s technique can to a certain point be improved with groundwork and jumping exercises, and look at the GP horses today does one have the “perfect” tecnick?
A bad attitude is difficult to influence, the horse will want to move forward and continue to want to move forward even when it is relaxed and detached.
A horse that after a ride is relaxed, awaik and still offers moving ahead is developable.
A horse that “dies” a little when it is relaxed does not have the same development potential and needs his rider to fight and to work harder in a positive way as a team.
The horses should have the will to do the right thing, but also more important is the rider, it’s easy today to change the horse, but your weakness will also follow you to your next horse.
It has taken 9 to 10 years to get to where me and Cash are today, this is the time it takes for bringing a healthy young horse up from 4 years old to the level of a rider or/and horse abilitie, not every horse/rider can jump 130.
Cash was not a perfect horse in many people’s eyes i many times get to know when we struggle at most. But faith can move mountains and it’s not the first time I moved mountains.
Patience is a gift in our sport and to me patience is really the most important thing a rider can have and unfortunately most riders do not have.
Patience is also my most used word when teaching, many riders want to get up to the next level to fast, unfortunately our sport takes an incredibly long time and many rides to learn.
The difficult thing about taking a horse to the next height for a rider, is to not know if the horse/rider can do it before it really does, it’s the rider who develops the horse and make it jump in a good way and to not get scared, and this in all heights up to GP…
Our sport is so beautiful, but so difficult, The sooner one understands that, the faster one can reach the next goal.
I have never liked and supported clinics, it is nice to look at and it looks easy and its a great show.
But it’s not the reality in our sport, it’s hard work who gets you were you want, and its not only one way who gets you there.
Happily we never stop learning, today i watch formula1 documetar on netflix, i must say it is interesting to see how much can be compared with our sport.
You are alone, but without a strong, positive and aupporting team you are nothing!
Thank you for reading…
